About Winemaker

Weingut Brundlmayer

Weingut Bründlmayer, situated in Langenlois within Austria's esteemed Kamptal region, spans an impressive 90 hectares of vineyards. Renowned winemaker Willi Bründlmayer, hailed as "the best Austrian winemaker of the last 25 years" by Wine & Spirits Magazine, oversees the cultivation of Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, St. Laurent, Zweigelt, and Burgundian varieties from meticulously selected grand cru vineyards.

The Kamptal region boasts some of Europe's most geologically diverse terroirs, with rocky, terraced vineyards benefiting from the climatic influence of the Danube and Kamp rivers. Notable vineyards, such as Zöbinger Heiligenstein and Lamm, showcase ancient sandstone and loess soils, contributing to the region's unique microclimates.

Embracing innovation, Bründlmayer has adopted the Lyre training system in a portion of its vineyards, optimizing sun exposure and airflow to enhance grape ripeness while mitigating the risk of grape mildew. Certified organic by LACON since 2019, the estate upholds a commitment to sustainable viticulture, with grapes meticulously hand-harvested and botrytis-free selections ensured.

In the cellar, minimal intervention is practiced, with grapes undergoing gentle handling and only a small portion undergoing maceration to enhance complexity during blending. Bründlmayer's wines, from the light Grüner Veltliner to sparkling offerings, reflect the essence of their terroir and the dedication of their visionary winemaker.
