Varietal: Mourvedre, Malbec, Cinsault , and Pinot Noir

Region: Oregon

Country: United States

Volume: 750ml

The 2021 vintage continues the journey with Mourvedre and Malbec from the Conley Vineyard, reflecting the consistent quality and commitment to organic farming. Adding to the blend are Cinsault grapes from the sustainably farmed Strand Vineyard and Pinot Noir from Cancilla Vineyard, creating a wine that's as diverse as it is delicious.

The making of this wine is a labor of love, with the Pinot Noir grapes undergoing direct pressing, while the Verdelho grapes and reds are macerated on skins to add layers of complexity. After a slow and natural fermentation in barrels, the wines are carefully blended to create a juicy red that's ready to chill and enjoy.

In the glass, this eclectic blend reveals a vibrant personality, with enticing notes of cherry starburst, floral aromas, and hints of black tea. It's a wine that captivates the senses and invites you on a journey of discovery and appreciation for the diverse flavors and terroirs of Yakima Valley.

Sip on this! It's good for you because...

About Winemaker

Joe Swick

In the heart of Newberg, Oregon, Joe Swick is redefining the Oregon wine landscape with his innovative and natural approach to winemaking at Swick Wines. As both owner and winemaker, Joe collaborates with select growers in Oregon’s Willamette Valley and Washington State's Columbia Valley, focusing on vineyards practicing organic or biodynamic farming.

Joe's journey into winemaking began in Portland, Oregon, where he worked at an organic food store, sparking a passion that led him to work harvests around the world for a decade. Inspired by his experiences in France, where he discovered natural wines, Joe returned to the Pacific Northwest in 2013 to launch Swick Wines with a vision to create "naked and raw" wines that are fun and delicious.

At Swick Wines, the focus is on manual harvests, spontaneous fermentation, and minimal intervention. Joe's diverse portfolio includes skin-contact wines, Piquette, and a range of grape varieties from Pinot Noir to Grenache. With an annual production of approximately 70,000 bottles, Swick Wines has gained a loyal following for its fresh, mineral-driven wines that offer a refreshing alternative to traditional Oregon offerings.

Beyond winemaking, Joe is known for his love of pizza, dad jokes, and his sister Mariana's creative use of wine lees in crafting soaps and sugar scrubs. His eclectic interests and commitment to sustainability make Swick Wines a standout in the natural wine world.

So..What's natural wine again?

  • No synthetic molecules in the vines
  • Plowing or other solutions to avoid chemical herbicides
  • Use of indigenous yeast
  • Handpicked grapes
  • Low to no filtering
  • Low to no sulfites
  • Winemaking that respects the grapes: no pumping or rough handling
    of the grapes
  • no micro-oxygenation

Not all of our wines are natural; some are simply organic or sustainable.
However, they're all delicious and good for you!
