About Winemaker
Stolpman Vineyards
Over 20 years ago, the Founding Partner, Tom Stolpman, discovered what is believed to be one of the greatest viticultural sites on earth. Nestled in the hills of California’s Central Coast, on a rare Limestone outcropping and unobstructed from the Pacific Ocean wind, this unique land is naturally suited to grow Syrah and Roussanne grapes. The commitment is to preserve this natural environment for the vines through conscious farming, dry farming, and sustainable employment. In the winery, a preference is given to native fermentation and minimal manipulation.
Dedicated to sensible farming and winemaking, it is believed that vibrant, site-specific wines can be created, with a focus unique to the Ballard Canyon AVA, California.
So..What's natural wine again?
- No synthetic molecules in the vines
- Plowing or other solutions to avoid chemical herbicides
- Use of indigenous yeast
- Handpicked grapes
- Low to no filtering
- Low to no sulfites
- Winemaking that respects the grapes: no pumping or rough handling
of the grapes - no micro-oxygenation
Not all of our wines are natural; some are simply organic or sustainable.
However, they're all delicious and good for you!
