“Creamy in texture, yet lithe and lively, thanks to bright, citrusy acidity, buoying finely meshed notes of poached quince, ripe melon, blood orange sorbet and Marcona almond. Clean-cut and lightly spiced on the lingering finish. Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay.”
Joël's Champagne from the Aube sounds like a delightful experience for the senses! The combination of fresh apple aromas, rich yeasty notes, and hints of citrus in the nose sets a promising tone. The description of the wine being rich and full-bodied with a suggestion of red fruit in the mouth suggests a complex flavor profile that would pair well with a variety of dishes or enjoyed by itself.
The sustainable farming practices and the use of a soléra system for the vin de reserve add layers of interest to the winemaking process. It's intriguing that Joël blends 30% of wine from the soléra with the current vintage, contributing to the depth and complexity of his Champagnes. The extended aging on the lees and low dosage further emphasize the attention to detail and craftsmanship in producing this Champagne.
Overall, Joël's wine seems to be a harmonious balance of tradition, innovation, and respect for the terroir, resulting in a versatile and elegant Champagne. It would surely be a delightful choice for any occasion.

About Winemaker
Joel Falmet
Joël Falmet runs a quaint family vineyard spanning 6.5 hectares, nestled around the charming village of Rouvre-les-Vignes. Rooted in familial heritage, the domaine has been cherished through generations, with Joël assuming stewardship in the early 1990s. Collaborating closely with his brother Yves, who has since established himself as a producer in Saint-Chinian, Joël spearheaded the production of the domaine's inaugural estate-bottled wine—a rare feat in the Aube region, where grapes typically find their way to larger Champagne houses for blending purposes. Demonstrating an unwavering commitment to sustainable practices, Joël abstains from herbicides and pesticides, opting instead for innovative methods like interplanting oats between vine rows. This thoughtful approach not only safeguards against erosion but also enriches the soil with nitrogen, regulates water competition in varying weather conditions, and mitigates evaporation—a testament to Joël's conscientious stewardship of the land.
