About Winemaker

Miles Garret

Miles Garrett Wines is a small family-run winery that cultivates its own grapes and olives. They aim to produce wines that reflect the unique terroir and microclimate of Humboldt County and the Willow Creek AVA (American Viticultural Area).

They employ dry farming methods on their CCOF certified organic vineyards, avoiding irrigation. During winter, cover crops are cultivated, and at specific times, farm animals are allowed to graze in the vineyard. In the winemaking process, they adhere to natural methods, ensuring minimal intervention. Fermentation occurs spontaneously with naturally present yeasts, and no sulfites or other additives are introduced throughout.

The wines are aged in aged French oak barrels or stainless steel, and they are bottled unfiltered. Their dedicated team comprises family, friends, employees, and volunteers.

So..What's natural wine again?

  • No synthetic molecules in the vines
  • Plowing or other solutions to avoid chemical herbicides
  • Use of indigenous yeast
  • Handpicked grapes
  • Low to no filtering
  • Low to no sulfites
  • Winemaking that respects the grapes: no pumping or rough handling
    of the grapes
  • no micro-oxygenation

Not all of our wines are natural; some are simply organic or sustainable.
However, they're all delicious and good for you!
